The Anxiously Awaited Day #3 posting ~

Day three of the adventures of two very fine Riverbabes aka Jammer and Flying J.

The babes spent a relaxing morning – not having to rush out to get on the road. Greg spent the night in the bed we dragged 1500 miles across rivers and mountains along with the dogs. We lugged them with us too! Went to the Mountain Lyon restaurant for a great breakfast of eggs, pancakes, hash browns and coffee. Then onto the Dodge dealership to see what they could do about the cd stuck in the cd player in the truck. They informed Gaye that they had to take the cd unit out of the truck and send it out for service. Are you kidding me??? Well, we will have to think about that one…
Then up to Breckenridge to check that out. Did I mention that Breckenridge is 10,000+ feet high??? Great town with great shops. We could have spent all day poking in the shops but poor Greg was with us and we didn’t want to subject him to such torture. Found a grocery store so we could finish purchasing items needed for the gourmet dinner Greg is making us tonight for dinner (did I mention it is his birthday??) . Dropped Greg and groceries off at the house – the dogs were glad to see that we (probably just Greg) had returned. We decided to take a walk into Frisco to see what the town has to offer. Cute town and buildings. We are here out of season so many places are just plain closed – did they not know that a subset of the Riverbabes was coming to town??? Anyway, we did find some places to do our part to support the local economy. We happened upon an audio specialty store. The owner informed us that removal of the CD was so challenging that he recommended buying a new truck! OMG, the altitude reaks havoc with their brains. Seriously, he then suggested a car stereo specialist in Silverthorn. We are now obsessed with this issue! Walked back to Greg’s- it is hot and dusty. Feel the need for yet another shower.
Decided that we weren’t finished shopping. Perhaps we should chat with the recommended CD removal firm in Silverthorn, so away we went. Once again, Greg opted not to join us – is it our deodorant? Our first stop set the tone for the rest of the day (or what was left of it). We encountered the Yoda of car stereo systems. To many he would seem like a lowly, pimply, young kid, with b-ball cap on stupid sideways, but we now bow to him. He had this secret tool (looks somewhat like a credit card) that he inserted into the CD slot (informing us that he is specially trained with an advanced degree and knows not to let to go so that the special tool gets sucked up too) – and voila, the magnificent green monster belched forth our beloved CD! We bow to The Force. Both FJ and J are very thankful we don't have to purchase a new stereo system for our Green Monster.
We are now in high spirits – as you can imagine (ok, we are also now on glass of wine #2 as we type this recount). On to further explorations.….AN OUTLET MALL. Weird outlet mall, in that it is actually divided into 3 locations, which you drive to separately, thank goodness Jammer was navigating at her peak performance. All about shopping! Once again, we did a tad bit for the local economy.
We realized our honorable green machine was needing food yet again. While pumping liquid gold into it’s bottomless pit, we were honored with a local sighting. The lady/person in front of us (owner of car titled Slo Gin) began a serenade to all gas guzzlers on her harmonica. What a lovely way to pump. (again, we attribute this phenomenon to oxygen deprivation). FJ comments to J that this blog site should have spell check....phenomenon was hard!).
Final stops to continue our local financial support at Borders for book for Flying J, Starbucks honoring for Jammer, incidentals for the chef…necessities at the French Emporium Targayyyy for the birthday boy…then back to homebase for fixing our dehydration issues.

The evening was topped off with an amazingly delectible meal of rack of lamb, grilled asparagus, best ever mashed potatoes, and a lovely Dunham Cellars Tratino. Ain't life GRAND.

  1. Loved reading your post and as I may not have been laughing as much as you, I have found them humorous. Wish I could have enjoyed the back seat with you all!
