Dayu 4 and start of 5

Day #4 Tuesday Notes
First stop of the day – most critical - Starbucks
· Since we are the ‘early risers’ at Greg’s we decided to head out on our own for a bit.
· While enjoying fantastically delicious caffeine fixes we partook in the local people watching ~ saw 2 women that were prime candidates for “what not to wear” – we figured they must have paid good money for their ‘equipment’ so really wanted to be sure everyone saw the merchandise L
· Techno geek J finally gets us logged on after 30 minutes and a phone call to Starbucks home office geeks (she is one amazing blogger)
· We know all of our ‘fans’ have been anxiously awaiting our updates, and no wi-fi at Greg’s (beer budget much more important than on-line service….perhaps this has something to do with the fact he has no computer!).
· FJ receives what can only be construed as a marriage proposal. He swore his divorce would be final soon, and we could then be together. He definitely picked FJ over J…..ah, jealously may now fester
· Fortified with caffeine we are on to Wal-Mart for ‘mom’ shopping. Call us crazy but we opt for dish drying rack rather than the scales Greg wanted to weigh fatso Audrey before he puts her on the diet from hell.
· Time for breakfast at local eatery “Butterhorn Café”. Fantastic sign in unisex facility:
o Men, aim well, it is shorter than you think
o Women, please remain seated for the entire performance

· Our mom duties done, we decide it is time to be tourists. Greg and dogs join us for some time hob-nobbing with the rich & famous, we are off to Vail.
o What a beautiful, huge, village. No two shops are the same, merchandise top quality (yes price is frequently indicative, but once in awhile we found opportunities that were meant just for us).
o Even Greg enjoyed the shops. Dogs were amazing, he never tied them up, they simply waited patiently outside the doors for us to come back out (who wouldn’t mind waiting for us!).
o Audrey and FJ seemed to be struggling with altitude issues, climbing the steps up to the parking lot about did us in!
o This is such a cool spot – it could be Riverbabe heaven IF they had a zipline.
· This trip back over the pass seems such an easy thing, no overheating, and we actually could drive 60mph! Wow.
· Actually relaxing a bit. J worked to fix a knitting mistake on something FJ had been struggling with, good time for a bit of reading, glass of wine…..then off to great Mexican food at local Frisco restaurant (near Starbucks).
· Once back, packed up car for early departure.

Day #5 Wednesday, heading HOME
· We were at the Starbucks when they opened at 5:30 am to pick up our first caffeine of the day.
· But I must digress… I think I mentioned that FJ forgot to pack a map… J purchased one somewhere around Yakima on the way out here. Thank God we had the map. FJ had instructions from mapquest. Well, J was trying to figure out just how Mapquest was going to get us home. It had us going over the Rockies on these little winding road (did you know that FJ gets carsick?) Craig mentioned to me that there were some folks using Mapquest directions and got lost and died somewhere in Oregon. Well, J called her trusty know it all about Colorado – Tim Murphy. He gave us some much needed advice like STAY ON THE INTERSTATE!! Good advice, thus far. We cruised through Denver. Stopped in Cheyenne at the state capital for the Starbucks J found on Google via txt msg on the phone. Got gas – thank God we did that – there was NOTHING (and I do mean nothing) for about 200 miles. We are now breakfasting at Perkins in Casper – a tiny (population wise) town in the middle of nowhere (literally) but has lots of stuff to offer – I am looking at a Bed, Bath and Beyond and Sam’s Club is right next door. Will change drivers and hopefully the scenery.
